How will the rise of China, India, and other regional powers in Asia influence Europe? Can Asia and Europe connect in contemporary turbulent international dynamics, or are they condemned to competing against one another? What are the potential platforms of cooperation and connections between the two continents: economic, political, and social? What is the meaning of the recent shift of Russian policy toward Asia and creating different zones of influence? Are there any schemes within the EU that strengthen multidimensional connectivity between the two continents?
Our university’s Asian Studies (Bridging Europe and Asia) program addresses such questions to equip our students with the knowledge and skills to identify and explore the links between Asia and Europe. It explores the processes and conceptions behind the relations between these continents, their regions, states, and international organizations. The program focuses on issues vital for explaining these dynamics, such as climate change, energy security, and the politics-religion nexus.
We will attempt to provide our alums with practical knowledge and understanding of cultural differences. We will offer them the possibility of cooperating with researchers and practitioners with deep expertise and knowledge of both continents and the challenges connected with their coexistence if a shifting global environment. We will equip them so that they are ready for the rise of Asia and its role in shaping the world’s future.
