The Environmental Management master's program is designed to address the current challenges facing civilization, such as the need to change our production and consumption patterns, and to introduce sustainable development models and forms of management in business and public organizations. The program aims to equip students with professional and interdisciplinary knowledge in the field of environmental protection and management to meet the increasing demand for such specialists in the labor market.
The term "ecology" has become a buzzword in both science and practice, but its meaning is often misconstrued. This has led to non-specialists making suboptimal decisions regarding the use of environmental resources and the direction of organizations' development, often in the form of "greenwashing." Consequently, it is essential to educate professionals who can manage organizations while taking environmental aspects into account as an integral part of the overall management system.
The study program covers the challenges, problems, and anthropogenic threats to the natural environment, provides knowledge of modern environmental protection solutions, and introduces the contemporary paradigm of development and management of organizations of various types, complexity, and sector (business, public, social). Finally, the program aims to develop the ability to organize activities focused on environmental aspects and to use modern environmental management tools.
Upon graduation, students are expected to have an awareness and understanding of environmental problems in an organization. They will be able to identify environmental aspects in any organization's activities and make informed decisions on the direction of development, recognizing the effects on the natural environment. Graduates will be able to design the organizational structure to optimize resource consumption, reduce the physical pressure on the environment in accordance with the prevention rule, and develop and implement an environmental management system integrated with the overall management system of the organization. They will also be able to select the appropriate instruments and tools to solve environmental problems in organizations.
