The Faculty of Mathematics and Information Science offers a 3.5-year Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, which starts in October. The program provides students with a solid foundation in mathematics and computer science that enables them to effectively learn programming techniques and succeed in the rapidly evolving field of computer science.
During the first three semesters of the program, students receive a comprehensive education in mathematics, including calculus, linear algebra and geometry, discrete mathematics, logic, numerical methods, and principles of electronics. They also receive introduction courses to structural and object-oriented programming, algorithms, and data structures as well as operating systems. In the fourth semester, students start to take courses that are specifically designed for computer science students. From the fifth semester, students can choose from a range of elective courses that cover both theoretical and practical aspects of computer science. In the final semester, students work on team projects and prepare their thesis.
Graduates of the program are thoroughly educated in mathematics and acquire the theoretical basics of computer science, which enables them to widen their knowledge in the rapidly changing field of computer science. They can use IT tools, program in various programming languages, and operate IT equipment and software. Graduates can work as part of a team to develop and implement IT projects, as well as verify component elements of computer information systems in compliance with a given specification. They can administer medium-scale computer information systems and computer networks.
The program covers a wide range of topics related to computer science and information systems. The curriculum includes courses on programming languages such as C, C++, Java, C#, .NET, and others, as well as courses on discrete mathematics, introduction to digital systems, algorithms and data structures, differential equations, operating systems, data transmission, databases, computer networks, multilayer application development, software engineering, and artificial intelligence fundamentals.
