The Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Warsaw offers a comprehensive program of studies for those interested in pursuing a Master of Science degree in Chemistry. The program is designed to provide students with an advanced understanding of chemical sciences, including a broad range of theoretical and practical skills necessary for work in chemical laboratories, scientific publishing, and related fields. The program is divided into two cycles, with the second cycle focusing on six different specializations: physicochemistry of new materials, theoretical chemistry, organic synthesis, chemical technology, bio- and environmental analysis, and crystallography.
In addition to a rigorous academic curriculum, students in the program also gain extensive experience in health and safety, learning how to handle chemicals and chemical waste safely and responsibly. They also become familiar with relevant legal regulations governing chemical safety, and are prepared to work in traditional and advanced testing laboratories.
One of the key strengths of the program is the emphasis on developing critical thinking and research skills. Students learn how to collect and analyze data, as well as how to prepare scientific publications and present their work in English. They also develop the skills necessary to solve complex chemical problems in their area of specialization, as well as the ability to manage group work and collaborate with other specialists in their field.
The program is open to both international and Polish students, with admission based on a written entrance exam that tests knowledge of chemistry at the first degree level. Candidates must score at least 60 percent of the maximum number of points in order to be eligible for second cycle studies. For those interested in studying in English, a B2 level of English proficiency is required, and relevant documents must be provided as part of the application process.
Graduates of the program are well-prepared to pursue careers in a wide range of industries, including industrial and research laboratories, scientific publishing, and more. They are also well-positioned to continue their education at the PhD level, either in Poland or abroad. Overall, the program provides a comprehensive education in chemical sciences, preparing students for successful careers in a rapidly evolving and highly competitive field.
