Mechatronic Engineering is an interdisciplinary program that covers basic courses such as mathematics and physics, major courses including mechanics, control theory, computer science, and electronics, and specialty courses. The program focuses on computer-aided engineering techniques, virtual prototyping, control systems, and robotics. The goal of the program is to provide students with a solid theoretical background and practical engineering skills, preparing them to work in interdisciplinary teams that design, manufacture, and/or utilize various mechatronic systems.
The program includes laboratory and project classes where students gain practical engineering skills, and it prepares graduates to work in design units, research and development institutions, and companies that manufacture or use mechatronic devices. Graduates can also continue their studies at the master's level, either at the same university or at other universities in Poland or abroad. The program's educational objectives include preparing graduates for master's studies, employment in design teams focused on mechanical or mechatronic systems, and research and development in academia or industry, as well as enhancing their leadership skills, communication and collaboration abilities, and commitment to lifelong learning.
Moreover, the program is conducted in English, providing students with specialist education and competences in technical mechanics, automation, and microprocessor systems, while also developing their language skills. The program lasts for seven semesters or 3.5 years, and it is offered as full-time studies during summer time (June - September), with the start of studies in October.
Course description
Mechatronic engineering is the interdisciplinary program composed of basic courses (e.g. mathematics, physics), major courses (e.g. mechanics, control theory, computer science, electronics) as well as of specialty courses. Contents of major and specialty courses comprise techniques of computer aided engineering, problems of virtual prototyping, elements of modern control and basics of robotics. Students learn about methods and tools for analysis and synthesis of mechatronic systems and integration in mechatronics. The aim of the Mechatronics engineering first cycle study program is to build the students’ engineering knowledge considered as theoretical background and practical engineering problems. The study comprises laboratory and project classes where students gather practical engineering skills. The study in Mechatronic engineering prepares to work in interdisciplinary teams that design, manufacture and/or utilize various mechatronic systems. The interdisciplinary knowledge helps the program graduates to communicate with other engineers in the course of solving the practical, complex engineering problems. The graduates of the program are prepared to work in: design units, research and development institutions as well as in companies that manufacture or use mechatronic devices. The graduates are also prepared to continue study at the Master level both at home University (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics offers second level Mechatronic engineering program) and at other faculties or universities in Poland or abroad.
