The Power Engineering program offered by the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering is a 3.5-year undergraduate program that prepares students to solve complex engineering problems in the field of power engineering. During the first year of the program, students are exposed to the fundamentals of mathematics, physics, mechanics, thermodynamics, and computer science. In the second year, they learn advanced topics in mechanical design, control engineering, and foreign language. In the third year, students specialize in topics such as thermal power systems, energy sources, and energy conversion, technologies of environmental protection, renewable energy systems, control of heat processes, turbines, pumps, steam boilers, reciprocating engines and heat pumps.
The program aims to provide students with a solid fundamental engineering knowledge in the first year, followed by a deep understanding of the problems related to the subject of the study. Graduates from the program are equipped with a wide range of knowledge in the areas of thermal engineering, electrical power engineering, information technologies, and economics. They are prepared for sustainable development of energy sources and ecological production of energy, transmission, and distribution of electricity. The program also provides students with the necessary skills to design, commission, and operate power systems, as well as energy production, conversion, transmission, and distribution.
Examples of modules covered in the Power Engineering program include mechanics of structures, thermodynamics, basics of automation and control, machine design, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, theory of heat machines, electric power systems, combustion and fuels, measurements and techniques of experiment, energy systems, internal combustion engines, steam boilers, turbines, power engineering machines and systems. Graduates from the program are well-prepared to work in the industry and tackle engineering problems in power engineering.
