The Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology offers a Master of Science degree in Telecommunications, which is a two-year program that prepares students for careers in the rapidly evolving telecommunications industry. The program requires students to complete coursework in a chosen specialisation, as well as to prepare and defend a thesis based on an original research project. Each student is assigned a faculty advisor who helps them develop an academic plan tailored to their educational goals.
Graduates of the Telecommunications specialisation are well-equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to design, implement, and operate telecommunication circuits, equipment, and systems based on modern technologies. The program covers a wide range of topics, including the transmission of information using radio waves, digital processes, computers, and other advanced technologies. Students also learn techniques for image and sound processing, as well as methods for solving complex system problems that require a combination of telecommunications and computer science knowledge.
Some of the modules covered in the program include Discrete Random Processes, Computational Electromagnetics for Telecommunication, Queuing Theory, Adaptive Image Recognition, Techniques and Algorithms for Signal Processing, Adaptive Signal Processing, IP Multimedia Subsystem, Digital Communications, and Optical Fiber Transmission. With this wide-ranging curriculum, graduates are well-prepared to enter a variety of careers in the telecommunications industry.
Career opportunities for graduates of this program include roles in landline and mobile network operations, as well as in the supply and manufacturing of telecommunications equipment and software. They may also work in TV and radio broadcasting, recording studios, and telecommunications and IT departments of banks, state administration, and other large companies. Additionally, graduates may find employment in research and implementation centers of the world’s telecommunications concerns, or in small telecommunications and IT companies.
